M. A. JUNIOR AT A GLANCE

In accordance with the government policy there is a provision for reservation of seats for studets belonging to SC, ST(Hills), ST(Plains), OBC and MOBC.

M. A. Junior College, Lala is a foremost educational institution imparting and catering to the higher educational needs of the aspiring students of the entire Barak Valley. It is the third venture of the Rural Development Foundation. The College was founded in 2014 and it is now on its 10th year journey. On the onset the college had only two streams i.e, Arts and Science and from its second year Commerce stream is also being offered to its students. The college now stands tall with its more than 750 students, a host of young dedicated, dynamic, highly qualified and experienced faculty members with good infrastructure.

Apart from this the college does everything possible to provide an edifying experience for its students be it the arrangement of learned guest faculties time to time or personality development programme with a view for all-round development.

The College installed CCTV cameras throughout the entire campus to ensure a strict and vigilant environment. M.A. Junior College is the only Govt. of Assam, SEBA & AHSEC recognised private Junior College in Lala and South Hailakandi as well. In accordance with the “New Education Policy, 2020” and the directives issued by the concerned department, we introduced Class IX (English & Bengali Medium) from the last academic session.

To imbibe high moral values in the students for character building, to infuse a sense of responsibility in them and to prepare them to excel in the competitive world, the college seeks to provide highest standards of excel- lence with a well-furnished laboratory for practical works. Today MAJC stands out in providing the latest trends in knowledge enhancement, dissemination and assimilation for its students. The college has, over the years, been nurturing extremely talented and academically bright students in all disciplines. A MOU has been signed with ERDF Group of Institutes i.e., University of Science & Technology Meghalaya, Vision50 Academy, Allama TR College of Pharmacy and others which open up opportunities for the students of our area to avail coaching for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, Civil Service, etc. and also, concessionary admission opportunities in various institutions powered by ERDF.

So far, many of our students have cracked various competitive examinations like JEE, NEET, All India Forensic Science Entrance Test, Oil India Super 30 Test, etc without taking any private coaching. Last but not least, we hope and expect that our students are sophisticated and ready to crack any competitive examinations as per their field of interest and calling.

Administrative Director's Message

It gives me immense pleasure to state that the authority of M.A. JUNIOR COLLEGE, LALA – a premier educational institute of its category catering to the growing academic needs of this vast area for over a decade is on the way to expand its ambit by opening the Classes IX & X with two mediums of instruction – English and Bengali in addition to its existing Classes XI & XII with all the three streams – Arts, Science with well equipped Laboratory & Commerce synchronizing with the process of implementation of the New Education Policy, 2020 of the country. On this memorable juncture of time, I convey my best wishes and congratulations to the society at large around the college far and near for becoming partners of its all-round development and progress.

The fact that during the period of COVID-19 Pandemic, the students, especially those of Classes IX and X had to suffer a great academic loss could not avoid the watchful notice of the authority of the college. Therefore, in order to compensate for this loss, special coaching classes for X and XI before the formal start of the session have been arranged which deserve special mention. I wish and hope the best tradition of onward march of the institute in providing quality education will continue and thereby make the lovers of education as enthusiastic partners.

On this happy occasion of ushering in a new era in the field of education, I myself have got associated with this institute heartfelt thanks to honourable Nosir Sir and others as one of the team management with the ardent expectation to get ample active co-operation from all quarters including the learned teaching faculty and the supporting staff, the backbone of the infrastructure of the college.

I wish and pray for a very bright and brilliant future of the renowned institute established in 2014 after the name venerable Majaraf Ali Laskar, a freedom fighter, reputed social worker and educationist of his time.
